Wozniacki Announce Returning To Tennis

Three years after quitting from tennis to start having a family, the former world number one Caroline Wozniacki announced on Thursday that she would be making a comeback.
Having won 30 WTA championships, including her lone Grand Slam victory at the Australian Open in 2018, Wozniacki, 32, announced her retirement in 2020.
In her Twitter post, Wozniacki wrote, “Over these past three years away from the game, I got to make up for lost time with my family, I became a mother and now have two beautiful children I am so grateful for.”
But I still have objectives I wish to achieve. No matter your age or position, you can achieve your aspirations, I want to demonstrate to my children. We all agreed that the moment has come. I’m excited to play again when I return.
James, who was born in October, and Olivia, who is two years old, are Wozniacki’s children with former NBA star David Lee.
In a Vogue article, she stated, “I’m going to play the US Open.”
“I just can’t get enough of the electrifying energy of New York, and I’ve played so brilliantly there for years and years.
Additionally, David played for the New York Knicks for five seasons; we both adore the city.
From August 7–13, the Dane announced that she will “start out playing in Montreal just to get back into the groove” before traveling to New York, where she twice reached the finals.
“After that, I’ll have a few months to be ready for Australia, and then we’ll proceed as necessary. Unquestionably, the Olympics in Paris are an ambition as well.
See what transpires
After becoming the world’s top player for the first time in 2010, Wozniacki announced her retirement from tennis following the Australian Open in 2020 due to rheumatoid disease.
Victoria Azarenka, Kim Clijsters, and Serena Williams are some of the athletes who have rejoined the circuit after giving birth.
She declared, “I want to show that you can have both.” “You can have a career and excel at it while still being happy with your family and everything at home.”
After her comeback, Williams advanced to four Grand Slam finals while Clijsters claimed three victories—two US Open crowns and the Australian Open.
Williams, a close friend and 23-time Grand Slam champion, has served as motivation.
Serena, according to Wozniacki, “doesn’t get nearly enough credit for reaching so many Grand Slam finals after having Olympia.”
She has meant so much to women’s tennis, so her retirement will always be bittersweet for me and for so many other players.
“She marked the way for so many of us and demonstrated to us the possibility of anything.
“A few weeks ago, Serena and I had dinner together, and when I told her about my plan, she simply said, “Wow, good for you. Every step of the way, I’m going to support you, and if you ever need anything, I’m here. She has always supported me.
She continued, “Am I anxious? Actually, no. I’m returning to a favorite activity.
Can I take home the US Open? In my opinion. Will I succeed at the Australian Open? In my opinion. I’m doing this for that reason. We’ll see what happens, I suppose.
