Wizkid wins Favourite Afrobeats Artist at 2022 American Music Award

The first-ever “Favourite Afrobeats Artist” at the 2022 American Music Award was awarded to Afrobeat artist Wizkid.
The Grammy winner received the honor during the 2022 American Music Awards (AMAs), which took place on November 20 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.
The singer of “Bad To Me” defeated Burna Boy, CKay, Fireboy, and Tems to win the prestigious honor. His song “Essence,” which features Tems, also won the Favourite R&B award.
In the meantime, Future and Drake’s single “Wait For U” won the category for Favorite Hip Hop Song, earning Tems a trophy for her part in the song.
The organizers recently established the “Favorite Afrobeat Artist” award in order to acknowledge the widespread influence of Afrobeats on the global music industry.
