Wike re-appoints his fired Chief of Staff in order to swear in new commissioners
Mr Chukwuemeka Woke, the immediate previous Chief of Staff of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, has been reappointed.
The special assistant to Governor Wike on Media, Kelvin Ebiri, announced Woke’s reappointment in a statement on Thursday.
“Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has approved Engineer Chukwuemeka Woke’s reappointment as Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt,” according to the announcement.
When Governor Wike dissolved the Rivers State Executive Council two weeks ago, he removed Woke of his position as chief of staff.
The decision to remove Woke from the job he has held since the governor took office in 2015 was not explained.
Meanwhile, Governor Wike is set to swear in three commissioners-designate who were vetted and approved by the Rivers State House of Assembly last week.
Professor Zaccheaus Adangor, who previously served as the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney-General of the state, and Isaac Kamalu, who served as the Commissioner for Finance in the disbanded government, are among the commissioners-designate.
Dakorinama Alabo George-Kelly, who formerly served as Governor Wike’s special adviser on special projects, is the third commissioner to be sworn in.
