Veteran Gospel Singer Sammie Okposo Give Up The Ghost
Sammie Okposo, a Veteran Nigerian gospel singer, has just passed away and his age was 51.
Although the specifics of his passing are still unclear, close friends, including the musician Buchi Atuonwu, also known only as Buchi, told Channels Television that he passed away on Friday in Abuja.
His workmate, Righteousman, who still seems in shock over his death, called it a tragedy. The singer of Welu Welu also collapsed last week after his praise party event in the UK, and he had fatigue treatment, the speaker noted.
Sammie Okposo was scheduled to minister at the Outpouring Assembly International in Calabar from November 25 to 27, along with gospel musicians Eben, Chuks Praise, Joy Favour, and Victor Edit.
Later, his family was to release a statement announcing his passing, promising to reveal the details of his funeral.
The family continued, “I announce the demise of our dear husband, father, brother, uncle, and minister of God, Sammie Okposo, with a sorrowful heart but complete obedience to God.
“Sammie passed out and joined the Lord early on November 25, 2022, a Friday. Soon, more information regarding the funeral will be released. Knowing that he is with Jesus and singing with angels gives us comfort. We respectfully ask that the family be given space to mourn quietly at this time.”
The musician described in 2020 how he managed to survive an automobile accident at Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge.

“I was not going to post this because I had already thanked, praised, and worshiped God for delivering me from death Saturday, May 16, 2020, but this is something to brag about and testify of the miracle-working power of God I have a very big God who is always by my side to deliver me,” Sammie Okposo wrote on his verified Instagram as of then. “The image you see is my car propeller shaft that pulled off while I was in motion. Just before it happened, I was doing 100/120 kph on the 3rd Mainland bridge connecting to CMS and then to Surulere my destination,” he added. “As I was driving, suddenly I heard a voice ‘slow down’ so immediately I reduced my speed to 60kph, 10 seconds after reducing my speed from 120mph to 60mph the propeller shaft of my car pulled off with a loud noise.”
