Trump Warns DeSantis Over 2024 Presidential Bid

Trump Warn Ron DeSantis

Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, has received a warning from Donald Trump not to run for president in 2024 because doing so would damage the Republican Party.

“I believe he would be mistaken, The base, in my opinion, would not approve of that, the former president said Fox News.

Without giving any specifics, he additionally threatened to reveal unfavorable information on the 44-year-old.

Both men are expected to declare their candidacies for president and are expected to compete for the Republican nomination.

Just hours before Tuesday’s midterm elections, which will determine which party controls Congress, Mr. Trump made his remarks.

At a rally over the weekend, he referred to the emerging Republican star as “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

“I’m unsure if he’s sprinting. I believe that if he runs, he could really damage himself. I genuinely think he may seriously damage himself,” Mr. Trump told Fox. “I don’t believe it would be beneficial to the party,”

Mr. Trump said that if Mr. DeSantis declared his intention to run for president, he would publish “things about him that won’t be very nice – I know more about him than anyone, other than, possibly, his wife.”

He didn’t give any specifics, but Mr. Trump has before threatened to leak negative material about opponents.

Later, he called his possible rival “a good guy” and denied that they had ever had a disagreement. He claimed, “There’s not a fight with me, and I’m way up in the polls.

Despite being a relative newbie to politics, Mr. DeSantis gained global notoriety after taking office as governor of Florida in 2019. He has positioned himself as a passionate supporter of conservatism, and many people believe he is the most likely challenger to Mr. Trump.

According to CBS News, a US partner of the BBC, he is predicted to defeat Democrat Charlie Crist and win re-election as governor of Florida on Tuesday. This outcome could be used as a springboard for announcing a 2024 presidential run.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mr. Trump, a resident of the state, declared to reporters gathered outside a voting place that he had voted for Mr. DeSantis.

Although Mr. DeSantis has remained mum about a prospective presidential bid, rumors have abounded. While all was going on, Mr. Trump declared on Monday that he would make a “very big announcement” on November 15.
