Tiwa Savage will be awarded a doctorate in music by her alma mater, the University of Kent.

Tiwa Savage, a well-known musician, is one of ten outstanding people who will receive honorary degrees from the University of Kent this month at ceremonies held in the cathedrals of Rochester and Canterbury.
On July 15 in Canterbury, Tiwa Savage “will be made Doctor of Music in honour of her inspirational and international career in music.”
The C-suite Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Leader, Healthcare executive, and Corporate Lawyer, Professor Dr. Funke Abimbola, MBE, will also receive a doctorate of laws on July 14 in Cantebury “for her inspirational career as a senior solicitor and her extensive voluntary work as a mentor and campaigner.”
Other honorary graduates include:
• Abdulrazak Gurnah, a Kent alum and emeritus professor, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Letters for his distinguished literary contribution and for his reflections on and depictions of colonialism’s effects, the theme of the disruption of refugees, and the emotional experiences of a transcontinental journey (Canterbury 11 July)
