The Husband I Married Is No Longer There – Joke Silva
Nollywood star Joke Silva claims that despite her husband Olu Jacobs‘s “no longer there” status after 37 years of marriage, she still loves him.
Silva recently discussed how she manages her 80-year-old husband’s dementia in an interview with TV host Nancy Isime.
It hasn’t been easy, she said, “I’ve had my challenges.
“It almost feels like the person you married 80% of the time isn’t there anymore.
“But the truth is, he had been an excellent man when he was there; my spouse is an incredible husband and father to his children; he was almost my best friend. With him, I could discuss anything.
Until his condition deteriorated, Silva claimed they had questioned Jacobs’ behavior at the beginning of the illness.
I used to cry myself to sleep, but eventually I started to accept it, she remarked.
The actress went on to say that she now loves Jacobs “differently” because of her husband’s illness, which makes her feel like she is caring for her father.
Consequently, she continued, “In this journey now, it’s like I’m taking care of my father because the spouse I knew is no longer here, but this man is somebody that I still love but love in a different manner.
Along with being seasoned pros in the Nigerian film industry, the Nollywood couple has garnered many admirers with their happy marriage.
Two children were born from their union.
