Senegal Cocaine Seize Haul Record $36m Worth

The largest land cocaine seizure in Senegalese history reportedly involved 300 kilograms (661 pounds) of the narcotic aboard a truck near the Malian border, valued at about $36 million.
The drugs were discovered on Saturday at Kidira in a refrigerated truck en route to Dakar, the capital of Senegal, according to the customs authorities.
According to a statement released on Sunday, the two drivers have been detained and a significant amount of cash in dollars and West African currencies has been recovered.
Although West Africa has long served as a hub for drugs produced in Latin America, UN investigators claim that the region is also a rapidly expanding market for illicit drugs.
