Romeo Oriogun Earns $100,000 in Nigeria Prize For Literature

Romeo Oriogun‘s poetry collection, “Nomad,” has been awarded the 2022 Nigeria Prize for Literature.
Oriogun won the prized award by defeating two other competitors, Saddiq Dzukogi for Your Crib, My Qibla and Su’eddie Vershima Agema for Memory and the Call of Water.
The Nigeria Liquefied and Natural Gas (NLNG) sponsors the biennial award.
It has alternated between fiction, poetry, theatre, and children’s literature since 2004.
This year, poetry books written within the last four years were taken into consideration.
It feels so weird to be in this moment. I don’t know what to say other than I am grateful to the judges for finding “Nomad” worthy of the 2022 Nigeria Prize for Literature. I’m grateful to @SaddiqDzukogi & @Sueddieagema for this journey & for many more.
