Rashford Late Minute Goal Secure Man United to EPL Top 4

Marcus Rahford

Following a narrow 1-0 victory over Wolves in their final game of the year at the Molineux Stadium, Manchester United is back in the top four for the first time this season.

The match was won by Marcus Rashford, who came off the bench after team manager Erik ten Hag cited “internal disciplinary” as the reason.

Ineffective play by both teams during the first half of the game resulted to a scoreless 45th minute, with United’s Alejandro Garnacho having the sole clear-cut opportunity to score. Jose Sa, the goalie, turned away his shot from dead center.

With the arrival of Rashford and Adama Traore, the game’s tempo accelerated as both United and Wolves FC began to challenge one another. Both teams appeared reenergized for the second half.

Ruben Neves’ powerful 30-yard free kick forced David De gea into action 13 minutes into the second half, but the United goalkeeper made an outstanding save to stop the Portuguese.

United ultimately broke the tie in the 76th minute. Bruno Fernandes’ pass was wonderfully controlled by him within the Wolves’ half, and he calmly sent the ball into the goal to give the Red Devils the victory.

Rashford contributed his 100th Premier League goal to Manchester United with this strike.

Just eight minutes later, Rashford scrambled the ball into the net and reached the back of the net once more, but the goal was disallowed by the referee after consulting with the VAR. Rashford’s arm had been touched by the ball as it entered the goal.

In the last seconds of the game, Wolves came close to scoring an equalizer, but De Gea saved Raul Jimenez’s forceful header.

The victory, which is the 12th straight score between the two teams that has resulted in a goal each, briefly moves United into the top four this season.
