Nigeria Added 4th Gold in Zambia

At the current 4th African U-18 Championships and the 15th African U20 Championships in Ndola, Zambia, Team Nigeria added two gold medals on Sunday, bringing their total to six.
Four gold, one silver, and one bronze medals have already been won by the team.
Opeyemi Oke, a competitor in the athletics competition, finished first in the women’s U-20 400-meter final with a time of 52.60 seconds on day two.
In addition, Samuel Ogazi, who finished first among U-18 men in 46.08 seconds, took home the gold medal.
Jumpers Fejiro Djoma and Grace Oshiokpu won gold in their first event before bringing home two medals on Sunday.
Djoma broke Veronica Ugeh’s 2013 mark of 12.56m in the U-18 women’s triple jump by leaping to 12.69m to earn Nigeria’s first gold and establish a new Championship mark (CR).
In the U-20 women’s triple jump final, Oshiokpu won the gold medal for Team Nigeria with a leap of 13.03 meters.
In addition, Justine Jimoh created a new Championship Record (CR) by clearing 2.05 meters in the U18 Boys high jump final, breaking Aobakwe Nkobela’s previous mark of 2.04 meters.
With a jump of 2.00 meters, Goodluck Fiaku earned the bronze medal to end Team Nigeria’s successful opening day of competition.
The Athletics Federation of Nigeria selected 42 young athletes to compete for medals at the championships, including 23 athletes in the U-18 girls and boys division and 19 athletes in the U-20 men and women division.
