Madonna Louise Ciccone, better known as Madonna in the music industry, is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. She has stated why she first resisted having kids.
The pop music icon known as “The Queen” revealed in a post on her official Instagram page that she had previously ruled out having children because she equated motherhood with agony, sacrifice, and ultimately death.
The 64-year-old pop queen revealed this while writing on her challenging transition to motherhood in a piece released on Mother’s Day. She also said that she was shocked by how prepared she was when she finally became a mother.
I didn’t consider having children until I was well into my 30s because, she admitted, “I associated motherhood with sacrifice, suffering, and ultimately death, and I wanted none of that.” The Vogue singer continued, “When I did finally have children, I was amazed at how grounded I felt, but also puzzled and confused as to how I would figure out the balancing act of being a decent mother and an uncompromising artist.”
Madonna went on to characterize motherhood as a blessing that comes with both “highest highs” and “lowest lows” later in the essay.
She remarked, “Every mother understands there are no manuals or rule books to follow. You need to get started and figure it out.”
