LA Lakers Sign Scotty Pippen Jr. and Shaq’s Son, Shareef O’Neal

The Los Angeles Lakers and Shareef O’Neal and Scotty Pippen Jr., kids of former NBA legends, recently inked two-way contracts.
The legendary Shaquille O’Neal of the Lakers, who played in the NBA from 1992 to 2010, is the father of Shareef, who is 22 years old. The six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen‘s son, Scotty Jr., who is 21 years old, played in the NBA from 1987 to 1999.
6-foot-10 power forward Shareef previously competed for LSU. Due to his health and some injuries, he had difficulty throughout his final season. Shareef even disclosed that due to his situation, his father wished for him to simply continue attending school. He persevered, though, and will begin competing for the Lakers in the Summer League next month.
Scotty in the meantime had spent the previous three years playing for the Vanderbilt Commodores. He was initially passed over in both rounds of the NBA Draft, but the Lakers eventually called.
After signing the contract, the two players shared their excitement on Twitter.
Shareef O’Neal responded, “Thank you for this opportunity,” and included a flashback video of himself as a child sporting a LA Lakers jersey.
“Dream Come True”. Scotty Pippen Jr. wrote, “Let’s get to work #lakeshow”.
