LAPD Nab Nigeria Man With 68 Armed Robbery Records

Charles Chukwuma Onwuemelie

The “Blue Cloth Bandit,” Charles Chukwuma Onwuemelie, a 26-year-old Nigerian serial thief, has been captured by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

In a press release, the LAPD reportedly referred to Onwuemelie as the “Blue Cloth Bandit” because he allegedly “used a blue cloth to disguise the weapon used in the robberies that happened at gas stations, 7-11s, and Walmarts.

“The suspect would disguise himself by donning various hats, rubber gloves, and a face mask. Numerous of the robberies included the same car, and other evidence connected the same culprit to them.”

On September 23, when Blue Cloth Bandit made his most recent effort, police came up with a plan to employ surveillance and execute a search warrant.

The guy seemed to buy things at a business shop, according to surveillance video published by the LAPD, before brandishing his revolver covered in a blue cloth.

He may also be seen in the video donning blue gloves and a face-covering cap.

At the scene of Onwuemelie’s most recent suspected heist, police found a gun and other evidence connecting him to the crime.

Although authorities anticipate the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to bring additional charges for a number of other robberies that reportedly took place within the county, the suspect has already been charged with 16 counts of a robbery that allegedly took place within LA city lines.
