Jason Alexander, Britney Spears’ ex-husband, was detained on Thursday after attempting to disrupt the pop star’s wedding to Sam Asghari.

“He has been handcuffed and arrested for his terrible criminal misconduct,” Spears’ attorney Mathew Rosengart told USA TODAY, thanking “the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for their good and timely work.”

Rosengart stated, “I look forward to working together with law enforcement to ensure he is prosecuted to the greatest extent of the law, as he must be.” “Thankfully, Britney is unharmed.”
In a video released by TMZ, Spears’ ex-husband approaches a security guard and says he’s there to crash the wedding, which the outlet claims Alexander aired live on Instagram.

“Britney Spears brought me here,” Alexander, 40, recalls of Spears, whom he married in Las Vegas in 2004 and divorced 55 hours later. “She’s the first and only woman I’ve ever married. Her first husband was me. I’ve come to crash the wedding because no one else is here but Sam, so where has the (expletive) family gone?”

Alexander looks to be on the ground as he is detained by security, according to a photo posted by TMZ.

Officers responded to a trespassing incident about 2 p.m. Thursday, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s Capt. Cameron Henderson. He claims Alexander was detained at the ceremony’s location.

Officers realized Alexander had a warrant out for his arrest in another county, according to Henderson.

The claimed trespassing is currently being investigated by authorities.

Spears, 40, and Asghari, 28, planned to marry later in the day, according to a source close to the couple who spoke to USA TODAY earlier Thursday.

According to TMZ, the singer and personal trainer will say “I do” in front of 100 guests, including her brother Bryan. According to the outlet, her mother Lynn, father Jamie, and sister Jamie Lynn will be absent.

The soon-to-be newlyweds got engaged in September, just days after Spears’ father Jamie filed a petition with a Los Angeles judge to remove the conservatorship, which has given him control over the pop star’s assets since 2008.

Spears might have legally married, but the wedding, like all important life decisions, had to be approved under the conservatorship (which was ended in November after 13 years).

Spears announced her engagement in September with an Instagram video showing off her four-carat ring. The “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer captioned the video with six engagement ring emojis and six exclamation points, saying, “I can’t (expletive) believe it.”

“Would you like to take a look at that?” In the short video, Asghari inquired about the ring, to which Spears replied, “Yes!”

In 2004, Spears married her backup dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two boys, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, after annulling her marriage to Alexander. In 2006, Spears requested a divorce, which was granted the following year.
