J. Cole name as the NBA 2k23 “Dreamer Edition” cover athlete

J Cole

J. Cole already established himself in the rap industry, and now he’s doing the same in the world of sports.

The rapper will serve as the cover athlete for NBA 2k23’s “Dreamer Edition,” which will be released on September 9th, as it was announced on Thursday.

NBA.com reports that Bas and Elite, two of Cole’s Dreamville musicians, will assist players in “befriending J. Cole and capturing the hearts and minds of the city” in the game’s MyCareer mode, which will feature Cole.

J. Cole expressed his delight at being in the game and getting the cover. He stated:

“NBA 2K has long been a place to discover new musical talent through their game and continues to be a gold standard for showcasing all things basketball culture. It’s been an amazing journey to not only appear on a cover of this year’s game but to be part of the MyCAREER storyline, soundtrack and bring the Dreamer brand into NBA 2K.”

Despite not having played in the NBA, J. Cole has played professionally in other nations.

He inked a contract with the Rwanda Patriots BBC of the Basketball Africa League, as was previously reported, last year. His tenure with the team, however, was brief because he had to return home from Africa due to a “family duty.” However, it was said that he fulfilled all of the commitments outlined in his contract.

His time with the Scarborough Shooting Stars, a Canadian professional basketball team, was cut short when he had to leave to complete his tour obligations earlier this year.
