Adesanya defeats Cannonier at UFC 276 to retain the middleweight championship

Isreal Adesanya Defeats Cannonier To Retain UFC Middleweight Title

Early on Sunday morning, Isreal Adesanya of Nigeria easily defeated Jared Cannonier to win his fourth middleweight UFC title defense.

The Last Stylebender won the fight, which at times appeared to be one-sided, by unanimous decision after receiving scores of 49-46, 49-46, and 50-45 from the judges.

Isreal Adesanya defeated Robert Whittaker by unanimous decision in his most recent contest, which took place at UFC 271, in February.

After being given the victory, Adesanya remarked, “He had a terrific game plan; it was really hard to get my follow-ups going, my second phases.”

The victory further solidifies Adesanya’s reputation as one of the finest fighters to ever enter the Octagon; he now has 12 straight victories as a middleweight in the UFC, one more than Anderson Silva’s record.

Nobody compares to him, according to actor and WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Following the contest in which he defeated Cannonier, Adesanya challenged Alex Pereira to the next title defense.

Despite being in kickboxing, Pereira has defeated the Last Stylebender twice.

“The first time I told you it was an error on my part spamming the right hand,” Adesanya said, directing his comments to Pereira.

“That was in kickboxing. … Next time I punch you, you’ll be on skates and you’re gonna be frozen like Elsa. I’ll leave it at that.”

Adesanya has a 12-0 record in the middleweight division and is still undefeated at 185 pounds in the UFC after his most recent victory.
