In a Cocaine Swoop, the Ivory Coast cops arrests 30 people
The public prosecutor in Ivory Coast said on Thursday that police arrested roughly 30 people after a big cocaine haul was discovered in two port cities.
According to prosecutor Richard Adou, the arrests came after police seized more than two tonnes of the narcotic in Abidjan and San Pedro in April.
“This is a multinational investigation involving South America, Africa, and Europe,” he added, adding that further information would be released at a later press conference.
The haul is estimated to be worth 41 billion CFA francs ($67 million) on the black market.
The Ivory Coast has developed a reputation as a major transit point for South American cocaine destined for Europe.
