The spouse of a brave fourth-grade teacher who was killed in Texas massacre while trying to protect her pupils during a Texas elementary school tragedy has died of a heart attack.
Irma Garcia’s husband Joe “has unfortunately departed away this morning (5/26/2022) as a consequence of a medical emergency,” according to a GoFundMe page set up by Debra Austin, who stated she was Irma’s cousin.
She went on to say, “I genuinely believe Joe died of a broken heart and the loss of the love of his life.”
“EXTREMELY heartbreaking and come with deep sorrow to say that my Tia (aunt) Irma’s husband Joe Garcia has passed away due to grief.” tweeted by John Martinez, who identified himself as Garcia’s nephew.
Garcia died of a heart attack, according to Ernie Zuniga, a news anchor for local station KABB FOX San Antonio.
According to the Robb Elementary School’s website, the couple had been married for 24 years and had four children.
Irma Garcia and her colleague Eva Mireles, who had combined classes, were both killed in the shooting.
Salvador Ramos, 18, had been inside the building for around 40 minutes when police entered and fatally shot him.
