Less than three months after information about the NBA coach’s alleged romance surfaced, Nia Long and Ime Udoka announced their split.
Nia Long, 51, and Udoka, 45, who started dating in 2009, are “no longer together but remain totally dedicated to co-parenting their kid [Kez],” according to the actress’ agency.
Udoka will be punished, according to the Boston Celtics, for cheating on his fiancee with a female coworker, which caused the couple to split up.
After the organization disclosed at a news conference that Ime Udoka had violated “team policies,” he was suspended.
The alleged affair has reportedly had a “devastating” effect on their 11-year-old son, according to Long, who has subsequently come forward.
The actress reflected, “I think the most sad thing about all of this was watching my son’s face when the Boston Celtics organization decided to make a very private affair public.”
She added that “no one” from the group had even contacted to see how their family was doing, saying “he still has moments where it’s not easy for him.”
Ime Udoka apologized to the Celtics and his family in a statement posted to Twitter following the revelation of his affair, for which he was given a one-year suspension from the team.
The separating couple, who delivered a son in 2011, became engaged in 2015.
