George Floyd 6-year-old Daughter Gianna Wins Full Scholarship to US University

Gianna, George Floyd’s 6-year-old daughter, has been given a full scholarship to Texas Southern University (TSU) in Houston, Texas, where she will study.
George Floyd died as a result of a police officer kneeling on his neck, preventing him from breathing, leaving Gianna Floyd and her mother in a state of mourning. Global indignation over his death gave rise to the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
Many people in the US and throughout the world expressed their condolences to George Floyd’s family, particularly his wife and their 6-year-old daughter Gianna. Gianna, however, will receive a full scholarship from Texas Southern University (TSU) if she chooses to enroll.
A news release from TSU’s Board of Regents stated that they had “authorized a fund to give a full scholarship for Floyd’s adored daughter, Gianna… if she decides to join the University.”
The Board emphasized that by giving Gianna a scholarship, they were paying tribute to George Floyd’s legacy and ensuring her financial future.
The Board Chairman, Albert H. Myres, said in the statement, “This Board is committed to education and knows that a college degree is one of many powerful steps toward a productive and successful life.”
