Former Police IG, Mustafa Adebayo Balogun has passed away

Mustafa Adebayo Balogun, a former Nigeria Inspector General of Police (IGP), has passed away.
According to daily reports, family sources on Thursday confirmed his death.
But they withheld information about how he died.
Balogun became the 21st Inspector-General of Police on March 6, 2002. He was born in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, on August 8, 1947.
Balogun was charged on April 4, 2005, at the Federal High Court in Abuja with stealing and laundering more than $100 million during his three years as Inspector General of Police.
He was accused of 70 crimes by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
However, he struck a deal with the judge to enter a plea in exchange for returning most of the properties and funds. He was punished with 6 months imprisonment.
