Former House of Rep. Speaker, Patricia Etteh has been released by the EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released Mrs Patricia Etteh, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, who was arrested on suspicion of fraud.
Mr Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC’s spokesperson, announced her release in a statement on Saturday.
Mrs Etteh was released three days after her arrest on Friday, after “meeting bail conditions granted to her by investigators working on her case,” according to the statement.
“She would be required to report on a regular basis to assist with further investigations,” the EFCC added.
The Commission seized and detained the former Speaker on Tuesday “on suspicion of murky financial dealings with Phil Jin Projects Limited.”
She was elected Speaker of the House in 2007, but resigned after only a few months due to allegations of financial mismanagement.
She is the first woman to be elected Speaker of the House in the country’s history.
