FIFA Lionel Messi name 2022 Best Player

At a ceremony held in Paris, France, on Monday night, PSG and Argentina football legend Lionel Messi was chosen as the 2022 Best FIFA Men’s Player, beating out teammates from the same squad Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema.
Messi was a key contributor when the Argentina national side won the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year. He scored seven goals to assist the South American country win its first global championship in over four decades and to cap his football career.
In 2019, the former Barcelona star won the prized trophy for the second time, tying him with longtime adversary Cristiano Ronaldo for the most FIFA Best Awards with two each.
Prior to Arsenal striker and England international Beth Mead, San Diego Wave midfielder Alex Morgan, and the United States Women’s National Team’s Alex Morgan, Barcelona midfielder and Spain international Alexia Putellas was chosen as The Greatest FIFA Men’s Player.
She was a key member of the Barcelona Femen team that won the Supercopa de Espaa Femenina, Spain Women’s Primera División, and the UEFA Women’s Champions League last season.
Due to her success with the Three Lionesses at the Women’s European Championship last year, Mary Earps of Man United Women and England received the FIFA Best Women’s Goalkeeper award, while Emiliano Martinez of Argentina won the men’s division.
Marcin Oleksy, a football player from Poland who is amputee, beat out Richarlison and Dimitri Payet to win the Puskas Award for his overhead kick goal against Stal Rzeszów for Warta Pozna. He was the first amputee to receive the award, making history.
After leading the England national team to their first-ever European championship at the 2020 Women’s European championship, Three Lionesses head coach Sarina Weigman earned the FIFA’s Best Women’s coach award; the Dutchwoman has now won the illustrious accolade three times in her management career.
After leading the La Albiceleste to their first World Cup victory in 36 years at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where they defeated France in the championship game on penalties to win the most coveted trophy in football, Argentina national team manager Lionel Scaloni was chosen as “The Best FIFA Men’s Coach” for 2022.
The Fair Play Award given to Georgian player Luka Lochoshvili for saving an opponent from swallowing his tongue, and the Argentina fans won the Best FIFA Award for 2022.
