Nigerian Man Bags Life Imprisonment For Murdering South African Singer Chabalala

Onyeghani Ekene Dumkele

According to a report by MSN, a Nigerian named Onyeghani Ekene Dumkele was given a life sentence by the Pretoria High Court for the murder of aspiring South African artist Shaun Douglas Chabalala.

The MSN claims that in May 2018, 23-year-old Limpopo artist Chabalala and his friend Given Mzamane were persuaded to visit the notorious Tambotle apartment complex in Sunnyside, east of Pretoria, by a false advertisement for a high-end camera.

Captain Daniel Mavimbela, the Sunnyside police spokeswoman, discussed the incident and added that Chabalala was robbed inside the residential apartment on the seventh level, tossed out the window against his will, and perished there.

Given that Mzamane testified that he broke the door open and was able to flee, Mr. Mavimbela stated that this did not happen before the witness saw two guys who had taken part in the robbery and attack on Chabalala and himself pull Chabalala and toss him out the window from the same apartment.

Both had come to the occupied apartment building in search of the promised camera when they were attacked and robbed by the criminals, according to the police.

The 37-year-old Ekene Dumkele also received a 15-year sentence for aggravated robbery, along with a 12-month suspension of his sentence under the condition that he be extradited to Nigeria once his concurrent murder and aggravated robbery sentences are served.
