Henry Chukwuemeka Okamaro

Henry Chukwuneku Okamaru (a.k.a. Lawrence Ik Okamaru), the wanted drug kingpin behind the 2000.6kg Cannabis Sativa confiscated in a concrete mixer truck in Adamawa State on December 2, 2021, has been apprehended in Ondo State.

After a five-month manhunt, he was apprehended by narcotics agents from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Matthew Donuwe and Friday Nmborgwu, two suspects, were arrested in December in connection with the consignment.

They admitted that the concrete mixer truck with the Lagos registration number SMK 890 XB was filled with the illegal narcotic in Ogbese, Ondo state, and that they traveled for two months until being apprehended by NDLEA operatives in Adamawa.

Okamaru is one of the leaders of a cannabis growing cartel operating in the Ondo-Ekiti axis, according to investigations, and he shuttles between Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Edo, and Delta States, from where he organizes deliveries of unlawful consignments to Northern Nigeria and Lagos State.

While he shuttles between Nigeria and South Africa, where he settles his family, the drug lord has been revealed as a part of an international drug trafficking ring. He has a significant investment in cannabis production in the states of Ondo, Edo, Ekiti, Osun, and Oyo, as well as enormous storage facilities in Lagos and Abbi, Delta, from which his consignments are delivered all year.
