Darius Miles and Lynn Davis Allegedly Murdered Jamea Jonae Harris

Jamea Jonae Harris, a 23-year-old mother of one, was allegedly shot and killed by Darius Miles, a basketball player for the University of Alabama, and Michael Lynn Davis, 20. They have been charged with capital murder by the police.

Harris was a passenger in a car on “The Strip,” a neighborhood close to the university’s campus, when the event happened early on Sunday. DeCarla Cotton, the victim’s mother, claims that Harris ignored Miles, who she claims “took [her] baby’s life because she wouldn’t talk to him,” leading to the shooting.

Cotton posted images of the two young men suspected of killing her daughter, who was visiting a cousin at the university when she was killed, on Facebook to convey her shock and sadness. The bereaved grandma also updated her Facebook profile image to a photograph of her deceased daughter and Kaine, her 5-year-old grandson.

In an interview with AL.com, Cotton remarked, “She was a beautiful young woman who loved her family and most of all her 5-year-old son Kaine.”

“She was just trying to enjoy her weekend with her cousin that attends the University of Alabama and her boyfriend.”

Harris was “a modest spirit, and she was always a joyful soul, A person who kept the cousins together and pushed us to be the best ourselves,” according to Harris’s cousin Kennedi Henderson.

Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Police Department says that it looks that the victims and suspects got into a small disagreement after running into each other along The Strip that led to the shooting. The car’s driver claimed to have retaliated in self-defense, according to authorities. He thought he may have even hit one of the suspects.

After the alleged killer sobbed during his arrest by Alabama police on January 15, Miles’ arrest video quickly became popular on social media.

11 shots were allegedly fired by Darius Miles toward Harris, as seen on the ring camera.

Additionally, a video of the purported shot was posted online, apparently capturing the moment Darius Miles fired at Harris and the car she was riding in on the strip. Eleven shots were taken, according to the tape posted by the NY Post, and two women can be seen fleeing the scene.
