Ronaldo has made Manchester United worse – Jamie Carragher discuss
Cristiano Ronaldo, a forward for Manchester United, has come under fire from Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher for choosing to quit the team in the summer.
Ronaldo expressed fear to the management of the Red Devils that he might not be able to contend for the club’s biggest prizes.
The 37-year-old is willing to depart, but United has taken the stance that he is not for sale and that they expect him to stay until the end of his contract, which runs out in the summer of 2023.
Carragher expressed his displeasure with the Portuguese superstar’s choice in a series of tweets on Saturday, saying that the player lacked the loyalty for which he had been acclaimed.
Jamie Carragher stated Cristiano Ronaldo did exactly what he expect him to do according to his tweet on the microblogging platform
“Ronaldo did exactly what I thought he would do, score goals but make the team worse,” he said
“The transfer request also kills the idea he turned down Manchester City because of his love for Manchester United.”
The 44-year-old added that it would have been preferable to submit an exit request at the conclusion of the previous season.
“Also, why now? Has ETH told him he is not part of his plans or will play a limited role??
“Surely the end of last season was the right time to tell the club.”
Cristiano Ronaldo has not participated in the Europa League, which United was eligible to play in after placing sixth in the Premier League.
The international player for Portugal thinks he still has three or four years left at the top of the sport.
Both Chelsea and Bayern are allegedly interested in signing Ronaldo, although any deal from the Bavarian club is expected to happen only when they complete a sale for missing striker Robert Lewandowski.
