Canada Introduces New Job Laws for 500,000 Nigerian and Other International Students

In Canada, foreign students are now permitted to work more than 20 hours a week, according to a statement from Immigration Minister Sean Fraser.
It is anticipated that the new immigration policy will help Canada’s severe labor crisis. According to a Statistics Canada estimate, the number of open positions in the country’s key industries as of September 20 was close to one million.
Therefore, it has been permitted for international students with study visas that also include off-campus employment authorization to work longer hours when classes are in session. The rule would go into effect on November 15 and last through December 2023.
Students who have already applied for a study visa as of today should take advantage of the policy if their applications are approved.
According to Mr. Fraser, who made the announcement in Ottawa on Friday morning, the new regulation would allow no less than 500,000 eligible international students who are already living in Canada to work more hours, which will reduce the thousands of job openings that are currently available.
The Canadian government had previously imposed a weekly 20-hour work limit on international students to enable them to focus on their studies while simultaneously making a living.
