The annual Calabar Carnival in Cross River State was interrupted by an event on Tuesday that resulted in seven fatalities and 29 injuries, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The development was reported to journalists in Calabar by Maikano Hassan, the FRSC Sector Commander for the state.
He claimed that the event happened while bikers were out riding in Bogobiri, Calabar, in front of the Jumat Mosque.
Hassan reported that there were 21 adults, 3 women, and 5 kids among the injured.
He claimed that while the deceased’s corpses had been placed in the morgues of the hospitals, the injured had been sent for immediate medical attention to the naval hospital and the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH).
The FRSC representative continued, “The incident happened when a Toyota Camry car lost control and slammed into a gathering of spectators during the carnival.”
