Burna Boy will be questioned by Nigerian Police over the shooting of two people in Lagos Club Cubana by the singer’s escorts.
The Nigeria Police Force will question Grammy Award winner Damini Ogulu, alias Burna Boy, about his police escorts shooting two revelers in a Lagos nightclub.
The Lagos police command had already detained five police officers associated with Burna Boy for the attempted murder of Irebami Lawrence and Tolu, according to Diasporainfo.
Burna Boy was alleged to be laughing at the time of the incident and left for Spain shortly afterward.
CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, said earlier on Sunday that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba, was alarmed by the personnel’s despicable actions and had directed the Lagos Police Commissioner to investigate the matter and forward the report for immediate action.
But later on Sunday while responding to a statement by one Adeshina on Twitter, saying “This has nothing to do with burna boy. The duty of police guard to burna boy is to protect his life so sir forget what some burna haters said about him. Pls carry out ur investigation due diligent sir. God bless Nigeria police force,” Adejobi said the police would have to interrogate the singer to carry out a thorough investigation.
Adejobi tweeted, “Exactly what we will do. But there is no how d police want to have detailed investigation without interrogating BB. No way. So the level of involvement of everyone in the incident will determine his punishment or otherwise. We should not pre-empt what the report will reveal.”
On Wednesday, the gunshot incident occurred at Club Cubana on Victoria Island in Lagos, according to reports.
The musician and five police escorts visited the nightclub about 4 a.m. on June 8, according to a preliminary report from the Bar Beach Police Division.
According to Sunday Punch, roughly four police officers waited outside while one of them, Inspector Ibrahim, who was dressed in mufti, escorted the Grammy-winning performer into the club.
The musician was in the VIP section with three women when he spotted another woman, according to various witness testimony.
He allegedly told Ibrahim to invite the woman to come with him.
The lady’s husband, on the other hand, was alleged to have slammed Burna Boy, claiming that any man making approaches on his wife was disrespectful.
Burna Boy reportedly made new passes at the woman after a few minutes.
This upset her spouse even more, as did his buddies at the club.
“As things heated up, Ibrahim drew his service handgun and fired multiple shots while Burna Boy laughed,” a senior police officer was quoted as saying.
Lawrence, 27, was shot in the leg during the incident, while his friend Tolu was struck in the head by a bullet. There was a ruckus in the club as a result of this.
Burna Boy and his entourage then drove to one of his houses around the Elegushi end of the Lekki-Epe Expressway before heading to Lekki Phase 1 according to reports.
