The recent successful operation of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), which resulted in the destruction of an international drug syndicate and the seizure of 1,855kg of cocaine, has been praised by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Buba Marwa is doing well.. Two tons of cocaine is a significant haul, according to Mr. Buhari.
The president is now in New York, United States, for the 77th meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UNGA 77).
The news of the drug seizure, according to Mr. Buhari, made him happy.
“I deeply appreciate the work that you have put into the eradication of the drug menace. It gladdens my heart as I continue to follow the successes achieved under your leadership,” the president told the NDLEA boss.
He said, “You have repeatedly shown that choosing you to head this battle against evil death merchants whose single goal is to jeopardize and shorten the destiny of our kids is a very wise decision. Keep up the fantastic job, please.”
In a significant two-day operation across Lagos, the NDLEA declared the “largest cocaine seizure” worth over $278 million and the arrest of drug lords, including a foreign national.
