Bob McGrath, an American actor best known for portraying the first person on the enduring television program “Sesame Street,” has passed away at the age of 90.
According to a post posted by a relative on the late actor’s Facebook page, this is the case.
The Facebook statement reads, “Hello Facebook friends, the McGrath family has some sad news to share. Our father Bob McGrath, passed away today, He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family ❤”
The actor is most recognized for his role as Bob Johnson, Sesame Street’s resident music teacher, on the enduring educational television program since it premiered in 1969.
In contrast, the Seasame Workshop revealed in 2016 that McGrath will not be returning to the program for its 47th season since the series would be retooled.
The Sesame Street family’s “original cast member and beloved member for over 50 years” was also grieved by the workshop.
