Biden Gives Russia Another $2.9 Billion To Fight World Hunger

President Joe Biden disclosed on Wednesday that he is giving Russia an additional $2.9 billion.

The funds will be utilized to fight world hunger. According to reports, poverty has increased since the invasion of Ukraine.

Biden emphasized that the sanctions imposed by other nations on Russia allow it to continue exporting food and fertilizer, saying “It’s Russia’s war that is worsening food insecurity, and only Russia can end it,”

According to some reports, the invasion of Ukraine is predicted to disrupt food supply lines and drive up food prices, leading to an increase in global hunger.

As previously reported, the United States and the World Bank gave Russia an additional $1.7 billion to pay for the salaries of healthcare professionals and other “essential” services, according to Politico.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has given Ukraine $4 billion in assistance. Considering that Russia invaded Ukraine in February, USAID intends to rectify the imbalance.

Ukraine’s minister of health, Viktor Liashko, claimed that “the overwhelming cost of war” has made it difficult to pay those who choose to remain in the nation.

The $1.7 billion, according to Liashko, “is not just another financial support; it is an investment that brings us one step closer to victory,” he added in a statement.

Janet Yellen, the secretary of the Treasury, added: This aid will help Ukraine’s democratic government provide essential services for the people of Ukraine.
