Argentina VP, Cristina Fernández Face 6 Years Detention for Fraud

Cristina Fernández, the vice president of Argentina, was found guilty of embezzling $1 billion through public works projects from 2007 to 2015 and was sentenced to six years in prison on Tuesday.
It was the first time a vice president of Argentina was found guilty of a crime while in office.
She said that she was a victim of a “judicial mafia,” and she added that she would not run for president the following year.
“This court has been a true firing squad” The well-known politician claimed, “Prosecutors have dedicated themselves to disrespecting and insulting me.”
It has been determined that the verdict might not stand because she is still mostly exempt from arrest.
But Fernández’s supporters pledged to disrupt the nation by calling for a general strike.
They marched toward the federal courthouse, pounding on police barricades while yelling and beating drums.
“I am here to defend Cristina.” A 50-year-old defender of the woman, Marcelo Graziano, stated outside the courthouse, “We defend her for what she has done and what we know she can continue to give,”
