American star, R. Kelly, is reportedly engaged to one of his alleged victims, Joycelyn Savage
According to some court papers, Robert Kelly (R. Kelly), an American R&B singer, is engaged to Joycelyn Savage, one of his alleged victims.
Joycelyn Savage, a 26-year-old woman, is believed to have sent a letter to the federal judge pleading for Robert Kelly to be given a lesser punishment for his decades-long sexual assault of women and young girls and boys. Savage identified herself in the letter as R. Kelly‘s fiancée.
According to the documents obtained by online platform, TMZ, read, “I’m writing this letter in support of Robert Kelly in advance of his sentencing, so I can explain to the court that I’m not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be.”
She explained further by call him an “all-around incredible person” and “not the monster that the government has described him to be.”
“Robert and I are deeply in love and it breaks my heart that the government has created a narrative that I’m a victim. I’m a grown woman and can speak for myself which is why I wanted to provide this letter to the court.”
“He is a great man, with a great heart and deserves to be home with his loved ones who are ready to support him,” Joycelyn Savage concluded.
R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison for sexually abusing women, girls, and boys, more than 20 years after first being accused of doing so, according to SaharaReporters.
The conviction of Kelly on last Wednesday was hailed as a triumph for sexual assault victims, especially those who might be reluctant to report abusers for fear of retaliation.
In a subsequent Instagram post from the same year, Savage announced that she would share “my story” and said, “I have partnered with @Patreon where I will post daily chapters of my story. I’m going to reveal things that were sworn by NDA not to be publicly disclosed. I’m risking my life in jeopardy for a lot of others.
According to Essence, Joycelyn Savage admitted in her posts that Kelly had deceived her. She talked about meeting Kelly at a concert when she was 15 and subsequently quitting college to move in with him. She claimed Kelly would remark, “Baby girl, you’re going to be the next Aaliyah,” to her.
On Monday, though, her Instagram account was inactive.
