Nigeria First Lady beg Nigerians for Husband’s Poor Economic Management

Aisha Buhari speech

As the Muhammadu Buhari administration draws to a close, Aisha Buhari, the first lady of Nigeria, has pleaded with people to pardon her husband for failing to advance the country’s economy during his nearly eight years in power.

At a special Juma’at service and open forum held on Friday at the National Mosque Conference Hall in Abuja to commemorate the country’s 62nd anniversary of independence, Aisha Buhari prayed for forgiveness. “Shura: The Islamic Foundation of True Democracy” was the event’s subject.

“Your Excellencies, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, as you may be aware that this government is making its exit and perhaps witnessing the last anniversary of the regime, I ask Nigerians to pray for a successful election and transition program

“The regime might not have been a perfect one, but I want to seize this opportunity to seek forgiveness from the Ulamas and Nigerians in general. We all need to work together to achieve a better Nigeria,” Aisha Buhari added.

The first lady admitted that the naira’s inexorable decline under her husband’s administration had caused several Nigerians to endure unspeakable pain. The Central Bank of Nigeria’s policies under Godwin Emefiele, who was nominated by Mr. Buhari to lead the institution, have not yet had a favorable effect on the country’s economy.

“Your Excellencies, distinguished guests, it is also noticeable that our naira is being evaluated and the foreign exchange rate has affected our economy causing a lot of hardship and difficulties in terms of education, health and other day-to-day activities of our citizens.”

Aisha Buhari also praised security personnel’s efforts in battling terrorists and bandits, and she wished for “further triumphs in their operations.”

“I’m very pleased that our security personnel have more than ever met the challenges of security. The repercussions of banditry, kidnapping, and many other social problems are currently being pushed by their efforts, Mrs. Buhari stated. “I salute the efforts of our brave security personnel.”
